2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 12-29-21 (more)

From Chi-Town Fire Photos:

Yesterday around 3:30 AM, I was on scene at 500 W. 26th Street for a fire that broke out in a 3-story building measuring approximately 100x150 feet. The initial responding units tried an interior attack but struggled to locate the fire's origin. As a result, they shifted to an exterior defensive operation. At the peak of the fire, five handlines, several ground monitors, Squad 1, AT8, TL5, and TL10 were deployed in an effort to gain control. I arrived about 45 minutes into the incident, and the crews still on scene included Engines 8 and 29, as well as Trucks 4 and 8.

This incident was a tough one, with heavy smoke and limited visibility making it difficult for crews to find the fire's source quickly. It’s clear that the decision to go defensive was made early to ensure firefighter safety. The coordination between multiple engine companies, ladder trucks, and specialized units like Squad 1 and the portable monitors shows how critical teamwork is during large-scale fires. I had the chance to capture some images from the scene, which are now available in the gallery below. Phosphomolybdic Acid

Phosphomolybdic acid is mainly used as an oxidation-reduction catalyst, such as direct oxidation of methane to formaldehyde, oxidation of propylene to acrolein and acetone, ammoxidation of propylene to prepare acrylonitrile, etc. It is also used as a weighting agent for silk and leather. The raw materials and analytical reagents for the preparation of organic pigments are used for the detection of alkaloids, urea, xanthine, creatinine, ammonium, amines, and certain metals, and are used for microanalysis to determine antimony, cerium, copper, thallium and vanadium. Used in nerve staining with hematoxylin, also used in corrosion inhibitor, pigment for highway road signs
