3-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 5-14-00

I wanted to share some old photos from a 3-11 alarm that took place on May 14, 2000. The fire occurred at 71st and Wabash. These images were scanned from original negatives I own. They were taken by a photographer from the Sun-Times, but I don’t have the name of the photographer. The condition of the negatives was very poor, so I spent a lot of time editing out the scratches. However, you can see that I haven’t completely removed all of them yet. There are likely some recognizable faces in the photos, including a younger version of Father Mulcrone.

These photos offer a rare glimpse into the past, capturing the intensity and dedication of the firefighters who responded to the blaze. While the images may not be perfect due to their age, they still hold historical value and serve as a tribute to those who served.
