Libertyville 2nd Alarm fire, 3-15-14

This is from Larry Shapiro:

The Libertyville Fire Department responded to a barn fire on Bradley Road in Mettawa around 10:15 PM on Saturday. Units from Libertyville, Lake Forest, and Knollwood were dispatched. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames inside one of the buildings on a large stable property at 855 N. Bradley Road. Libertyville Quint 462, Engine 463, Engine 461, and the Libertyville tender entered through the north driveway, while the Lake Forest engine came in via the south driveway.

The Lake Forest unit had access to a hydrant at the street, and Knollwood tapped into another hydrant near the north driveway to supply water to the Libertyville companies. Before secure water sources were established, the Libertyville tender and the two engines worked together with the quint to contain the fire. Within minutes, the alarm was upgraded to a Box Alarm for additional units, including water tenders. Fortunately, the fire was well-controlled, and the mutual aid water tenders weren’t needed. A second alarm was called for more personnel to assist with the extensive overhaul.
