Excerpts from ChicagoTribune.com:
On Saturday, residents gathered with firefighters from the Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District for an open house at their brand-new, state-of-the-art fire station located at 1600 Reinking Road. The 12,700-square-foot facility, which cost $3.7 million to build, is designed to serve both the community and emergency responders more effectively than ever before. It features a 24-hour lobby, a community room available for public and non-profit use, a decontamination area, a house tower, a fitness center, a kitchen, a recreation room, and comfortable sleeping quarters for the crews.
“We wanted to show the community that we're here and ready to help,†said Lieutenant Scott Fehrman, a 33-year veteran of the department. “This new station is a big step forward for our service.â€
The Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District covers unincorporated areas of Kane County, including Plato Township and parts of Rutland, Campton, and Elgin Townships. The new station replaces Fire House #2, a decades-old facility on Route 20 and Reinking Road that only housed vehicles. Originally staffed by volunteers, it lacked basic amenities like a kitchen or sleeping space.
As the area grew, so did the need for better services. Fehrman explained that after the 2005 opening of the Cambridge Lakes Subdivision and the 2007 launch of Carillon, a gated retirement community, call volumes increased significantly. This prompted the district to begin planning for a modern facility.
About 10 years ago, the fire district started saving money each year for the new station, according to Trustee Todd Harris. He noted that the project is now fully funded and ready for use.
Fire Station #3 will also offer important community services, such as CPR classes, free blood pressure screenings, and the Knox Box Rapid Entry System. These secure black boxes, attached to homes, contain keys and medical information, allowing firefighters to enter without damaging property. Only authorized personnel have access using a master key.
Looking back, Harris shared that the area was once served by a volunteer fire department in 1936. At that time, firefighters would receive calls at home and then go to the station to get equipment, often taking 8 to 15 minutes to arrive at the scene. The official district wasn’t formed until 1957, and ambulance services were added in 1975. Today, the district operates two stations — the new one and another on Plank Road and Route 20 — each staffed with three firefighter EMTs. Unlike the past, firefighters can now respond within minutes.
Thanks, Dan
Trough mixer is used to mix powdery or paste-like materials to mix different materials. It is characterized by a horizontal trough-shaped single-blade mixing, and the stirring paddle is a through-shaft type for easy cleaning. The contact with the object is made of stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance, and the mixing tank can automatically flip the material.
