Box Alarm in River Forest, 3-26-17

Lake and Park, just a short block from the firehouse. I heard there was a fatality in this fire. When I arrived, there wasn't much to see—just the aftermath. But I managed to get some great shots of the apparatus. The fire started in the basement and was quickly brought under control.

I’ve been covering local fires for years, and even though it’s not always easy to get good photos, I always try my best. This one was no different. The scene was pretty quiet when I got there, but I could tell the fire department had done their job well. It's always sad to hear about a fatality, especially in a place so close to home. These images give a small glimpse into what happened that day.
