Chicago Still Alarm fire, 2/7/15

This message comes from Eric Haak:

I arrived at 3259 S. Halsted around 9:15 on Saturday morning, February 7th, 2015. I got there just a few minutes too late—by the time I walked down, the fire was already mostly under control. It looked like the flames were mainly confined to the rear porches of a large three-story building that had mixed occupancy. Fire engines 29 and 28, along with trucks 8 and 11, were on scene. It was tough to get a good shot of Engine 29 because it was facing into the sun.

I took these photos while I was there, capturing the aftermath of the fire and the firefighters in action. The scene was pretty intense, even though the fire wasn’t fully raging anymore. It’s always interesting to see how quickly emergency crews respond and manage such situations. I think the photos show the effort the firefighters put in to bring things under control.
