Roof fire in Wheeling, 5/10/15

The Wheeling Fire Department responded to a fire on the roof of a mostly vacant, one-story strip mall located at 1786 W. Hintz Road early Sunday morning on May 10, 2015, just after 9 AM. As units approached the scene, they could already see a dark smoke column rising from the building. The fire was located on the rear roof of the structure. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 positioned itself in the alley and began applying a master stream to the fire, while Wheeling firefighters used a 2.5-inch line from the roof. The affected area was approximately 20 square feet.
