Toyota's "Blueprint for Fuel Cell State"

At the end of 2014, Toyota will be the first in the world to mass produce fuel cell vehicles. This new industry, unlike the previous engine cars, is gradually unveiling its mystery. Can Japan, which is "car-based", open a new chapter?

Toyota is exploring ways to use hydrogen fuel as a primer to promote the conversion of Japan's energy supply system.

What Toyota is currently studying is the establishment of a social mechanism for the production of hydrogen from renewable energy such as wind power in local cities for use in FCV (fuel cell vehicles), power generation and heating fuel. If a social system that uses hydrogen can be established in a sparsely populated area, it will not only provide support for the local economy, but also promote the sale of FCV.

FCV is a "ultimate" eco-car that chemically reacts hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity and discharge only water when driving. Toyota’s attitude is “use hydrogen or oil. The choice of energy should be decided by the state and society, without the need for auto companies to figure out,” but from the plan to build hydrogen infrastructure, the company has clearly begun to work on FCV. . The possibility of a car with an engine transitioning to FCV will become more and more realistic. Initiatives that focus on this process are gradually being implemented.

Local government appeared to visit Toyota fever

In Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, where Toyota is headquartered, local government officials have been visiting the past and present. They all came to Toyota with the enthusiasm of "hoping Toyota to build our car factory." Today, “visiting Toyota” has become even hotter. Everyone has the same purpose and wants to build their own town into a "fuel cell city" with a new FCV factory and component supplier.

Merchants from Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture said, "In addition to the existing auto industry, it is also expected to attract companies from other industries." In order to grasp the production information of FCV as early as possible, a local government in Kyushu even hired an old employee of Toyota.

Toyota will start mass production of fuel cell vehicles from the end of 2014. The annual production will initially be 700 units and will soon increase to 1,000 units. Production and vehicle assembly of the core component "fuel cell stack" will be placed in Toyota City, the base camp, including government subsidies, each FCV is priced at about 5 million yen.
