CNC Milling Tool Offset

If the NC program uses the tool radius compensation command, the tool radius compensation value must be set by the tool offset method before running this program, and the tool radius compensation amount can also be adjusted by the tool offset method. The tool offset has two input methods: absolute value method and incremental value method. Which input method is used is set by the default parameters of the machine tool.

1. Absolute value input tool offset

To enter the tool offset method, press the tool offset function key MENU OFFSET to display the tool offset page on the CRT. As shown in Figure 1, press the PAGE button to adjust the display page.

1) Selected tool offset number

There are two ways to select the tool setting number. One way is to press the CURSOR ↑ or ↑ cursor keys to move the cursor to the desired tool offset number. If you press the cursor button continuously, the cursor moves on the screen sequentially until you find The required tool offset number (if you move the cursor beyond this page, it will enter the next page); another method is to press the NO QP button, input the tool offset number you are looking for, and then press the INPUT button to select the desired Tool offset number.

2) Input tool offset value (with decimal point)

Press the INPUT key to enter the tool offset value, as shown in Figure 2. The tool offset number is 25 and the input tool offset value is 15.4mm.

2. Incremental value input tool offset

Incremental mode tool offset input means that the input tool offset amount decreases or increases.

E.g

Current tool offset 5.678

Enter tool offset (increment) 1.5

The screen shows tool offset 7.176 (5.678+1.5)

The method of inputting the tool offset amount in the incremental value method is basically the same as the method of inputting the tool offset amount in the absolute value method, but the stored tool offset amount is the algebraic sum of the original tool offset amount and the input tool offset increment.

3. Note

The method of inputting the tool offset amount for this machine tool is to incrementally input the tool offset amount.

During automatic operation, when the tool offset is modified, the new tool offset is not immediately valid. Only when the program reappears the H code, and the H code specifies the tool offset number and the modified tool offset number in the table. It is valid only when it matches.
