Recently, at the Metso Paper Machinery Technology Exchange Festival in Finland, Metso introduced a new impact drying solution - OptiDry Twin.
The OptiDry Twin Impact Dryer increases web dryness at higher temperatures during the early stages of drying while maintaining the best quality and runnability of the web at the finishing stage. This device prevents sticking and increases web strength. Compared with other solutions, it can also run at higher speeds.
The system consists of two sets of drying equipment: the horizontal part and the vertical part, both of which are equipped with a blow box to ensure that the paper web is in close contact with the dryer. Due to the high evaporation rate, this equipment can greatly improve the dryness of the paper in the high speed paper machine.
The main purpose of developing OptiDry Twin is to make traction control independent of the speed limit. During the process of running the dry web from one guide roller to the next guide roller, only enough tension is needed to ensure that the paper web is in close contact with the dry web. In this system, there are no cold webs attached to the hot dryer surface. This ensures optimal traction control.
