Building collapse in Chicago, 9-12-19

This post comes from Chi-Town Fire Photos:

Here are some photos from the Still & Box TRT response at 3959 W Harrison on Thursday. It looks like a construction crew was replacing the sidewalk in the rear of the building, which led to the collapse of the back section. The building was vacant, and it seems no one was injured during the incident.

It's always concerning to see a building collapse, even if it's empty. The crew working on the sidewalk probably didn't expect the structure to give way. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it's a reminder of how dangerous construction sites can be, especially when working near older or unstable buildings. The Chicago Fire Department responded quickly, and their presence on the scene helped ensure everything was handled safely. These images give a good sense of the scale of the collapse and the efforts made by the first responders. If you're nearby, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on the area for updates.
