Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire, 7-28-27 (more)

This is a report from Steve Redick: I just witnessed quite an intense scene. It started with a couple of significant explosions, which caught everyone's attention right away. The structure was clearly under immense stress, with the roof collapsing rather quickly, followed by some early partial wall failures. There was one large residential building that was exposed to the fire, but thanks to the firefighters' quick actions, the situation was kept under control, even though the conditions weren't ideal. They managed to deploy two tower ladders and a snorkel, along with multiple in-line operations to supply the master streams. I’m still puzzled about why the water supply turned out to be such a challenge. Maybe the proximity to the JFK expressway played a role, or perhaps there were some dead-end mains in the area. Here’s the link to my website where you can find all the photos: [insert link] Steve Redick --- Below are some of the images I captured during the event: ![](Steve Redick photo - Chicago FD Squad 2A) ![](Steve Redick photo - Fire Chief at Massive Building Fire) ![](Steve Redick photo - Firefighter Stretching Hose at a Fire) ![](Steve Redick photo - Tower Ladder at Work in Chicago) ![](Steve Redick photo - Firefighters with Master Stream at Fire) ![](Steve Redick photo - Chicago FD Engine 69) ![](Steve Redick photo - Chicago FD Engine 124) It was quite the spectacle, and I feel lucky to have been able to document it all. The dedication and skill of the firefighters were evident throughout the operation. I hope these images convey the scale and intensity of the situation.
