We arrived at a scrap yard fire on Monday at 4430 W 14th Street. Engine 103 was the first to respond, as they were on a COQ (Call Out of Quarters) at 38’s house while 38 was dealing with a fire in the 1400 block of Avers. Engine 113 provided in-line pumping support to assist Engine 103 and Squad 1 in knocking down the pile of scrap metal. The companies on the scene included Engines 103 and 113, Trucks 19 and 26, Squad 1, Battalion 18, and 2-2-4. It was a quick response with multiple units working together to control the situation.

It's always interesting to see how quickly the Chicago Fire Department responds to these types of incidents. The coordination between different units is impressive, especially when they're handling multiple calls at once. This scrap yard fire didn’t escalate too much, thanks to the fast action of the crews on the scene. We'll be sure to keep you updated with more photos and details as they come in.
