Fox Lake Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a severe house fire on the early morning of New Year’s Day, escalating to a third alarm. The incident occurred at 33817 North Christa Drive in an area of Ingleside that lacks fire hydrants, making the response more challenging. Firefighters from Fox Lake were joined by mutual aid units, including personnel from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District, to combat the rapidly spreading flames.
The fire caused significant damage, ultimately destroying the home. Local residents reported hearing loud explosions and seeing thick smoke rising from the structure as emergency crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. Due to the lack of nearby hydrants, water was transported via tanker trucks and pumped into portable tanks to support firefighting efforts.
Several images captured the aftermath of the fire, showing firefighters working to overhaul the damaged property and the extent of the destruction. The photos also feature key personnel, including Fox Lake FPD Chief Ron Hoehne and a deputy chief from the Greater Round Lake FPD, who were seen on scene coordinating the response.
This incident highlights the importance of community cooperation and the challenges faced by fire departments in areas without essential infrastructure like hydrants. No injuries have been reported so far, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
