Lake County Indiana Snorkel History

Here's a post from Wayne Stuart for #TBT:

Lake County, Indiana fire departments were known for having several Snorkel units in service over the years. Gary Fire Department operated two Snorkels at different times, with one unit coming from South Holland. The Griffith fire department received their Snorkel from New Albany, Indiana. Meanwhile, the Mattoon ALF unit served in both St. John and Shelby, Indiana. Hammond Fire Department was unique in that they had two Snorkel companies running simultaneously — Snorkel 1 and Snorkel 2. Munster, located in Lake County but within Mabas Division 24, also had its own unit. Interestingly, the Crown Point fire department acquired their Snorkel from Snohomish County, Washington, where it was originally purchased as a demo model.
