This year, Aksu Prefecture will take the lead in Xinjiang by implementing new energy-saving standards for residential buildings, aiming to achieve a 65% improvement in energy efficiency. This initiative is designed to significantly reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental pollution, contributing to a more sustainable future.
To effectively carry out building energy-saving and emission reduction efforts, Aksu Prefecture will fully implement the 65% energy-saving targets for new constructions this year. The local government has also set a goal to complete the heat measurement transformation and energy efficiency upgrades for 400,000 square meters of existing buildings. In addition, the promotion of technologies such as ground-source heat pumps and solar energy utilization will play a key role in integrating renewable energy into the building sector.
According to the construction department's estimates, with 2 million square meters of new construction area each year, this effort could save approximately 30,500 tons of standard coal annually. Beyond the environmental benefits, these measures are expected to greatly enhance the indoor living environment, making homes more comfortable and energy-efficient for residents.
Moreover, all eight counties and one city under Aksu Prefecture have already begun applying the 65% energy-saving standards to all new construction projects this year. This widespread implementation reflects the region’s strong commitment to green development and long-term sustainability.
