More and more domestic trucks have been "armed" with advanced foreign technologies and are making strides toward high power, large tonnage, high efficiency, comfort, reliability, and energy conservation and environmental protection. Although these technologies have become popular or standard on trucks in Europe and the United States, they are still in the "primary stage" of application on Chinese trucks. So what are the applications of technology that make our trucks look new?

Increased bearing capacity

With the demand for high-capacity vehicles, high-reliability, safety, and pass-by-wheel wheel reduction drive axles with higher load capacity have gradually replaced the previous single-stage reduction axles. A set of bevel gears in a conventional single-stage reduction axle gear pack (commonly known as a tooth pack) is used for deceleration. Due to the large tooth size, the bridge gear must be enlarged, so the axle housing naturally becomes bulky with the increase of the bearing capacity, the ground clearance becomes smaller, and the passability is also deteriorated. The structure of the wheel speed reduction bridge is that the end of the half shaft is an external gear with a small diameter and there is a set of planetary gears around it. The teeth in the hub wheel surround this set of planetary gears to achieve the purpose of deceleration driving. Its deceleration performance is better (driving force is increased), and the vehicle passing performance is greatly improved.

The V-type thrust rod is also a foreign advanced technology introduced to adapt to new usage conditions. After the vehicle is heavily overloaded, the previous thrust rod is easily damaged, and the axle shell is easily deformed when the impact is large, and at the same time, the welded seam of the rear axle cover of the axle housing is welded. The previous suspension system had insufficient protection for the chassis and affected the reliability of the chassis when the impact was large. After adopting the V-shaped thrust rod, the force is evenly distributed to the two side longitudinal beams. A damping module is used between the bridge and the leaf spring to effectively reduce the impact on the axle housing and the chassis.

In order to obtain higher load carrying capacity, the frame technology has also been improved. Variable frame frames and frames with high density steel are being used. For example, the HOWO model of China National Heavy Duty Truck, through the absorption of Steyr's design concept, widened the frame design width, redesigned the car body, and improved the carrying capacity.

Pursue energy saving and emission reduction

Since the beginning of the new century, reducing automobile emissions has been a major event in China's auto industry, and many technological upgrades have also started. For truck emissions, there has been a rapid transition from zero emission levels in Europe to the current Euro III emission levels. When Steyr engines were introduced, there was no awareness of emissions standards in China. With the implementation of Euro I and Euro II, China’s engines have quickly reached the Euro II emission standards through improved processes, optimized engine design, and improved oil products.

However, from the Euro II emission standard to the Euro III standard, domestic engines have experienced a qualitative improvement, and the engine control system has also been converted from mechanical (fuel injection) control to electronic control. Among them, the mainstream of the State III engine using electronically controlled high pressure common rail technology, due to the precise control of fuel, but also reduce the fuel consumption.

The electronically controlled high pressure common rail system provides precise control over the fuel injection quantity and time of fuel injection for each injector, which can achieve the best balance between the fuel economy and power performance of the diesel engine; the pressure of the injection system is higher than that of conventional diesel engines. 3 times, the highest energy can reach 200MPa (and the traditional diesel fuel injection pressure in the 60 ~ 70MPa), the pressure of a large atomized combustion, thereby improving the power, and ultimately achieve the purpose of fuel-efficient. In addition, through the common oil supply pipe at the same time to each nozzle, the amount of fuel injected through the ECU accurate calculation, while providing the same quality, the same pressure of fuel to each nozzle, so that the engine running more smoothly, so as to optimize the overall performance of the diesel engine.

Comfortable cab

In domestic truck companies, Foton Auman took the lead in improving the cab and produced the first four-point suspension cab. At the time of the launch, the driver who used the spring suspension said that he had a feeling of "floating and not at heart." However, they later praised it. The four-point full-floating shock absorber system comprehensively improves the body's shock absorption level, improves comfort, and reduces driver fatigue. Moreover, the full floating suspension allows the displacement of the body within the horizontal plane in the event of an emergency, and its effective buffering effect makes the driver and passengers safer and greatly improves driving safety. At present, domestic trucks, especially tractors, are further equipped with air suspensions for the four-point suspension suspension, resulting in greater comfort.

In order to improve comfort, trucks are now equipped with ergonomic air suspension seats, and some models even have electric heating devices on the seats. Of course, reflecting the comfort of the cab also includes the use of a high-roof cab, which allows drivers and occupants to walk upright in the cab; a wide-body sleeper is used to create comfortable conditions for the driver to rest; and the dashboard has also changed in the past. Arrangement method - The ergonomically designed dashboard now makes the driver's operations easy.

Integrated, modular

Component integration and modular design are one of the most important automotive technologies that China's trucks have introduced to Steyr technology. When I interviewed users several years ago, I listened to users complaining that due to the rainy days, rain often drenched the joints of various electrical appliances on the car, which caused some electrical appliances to be damaged or stopped. Nowadays, advanced electrical connector technology can well change this situation. At the same time, it unifies specifications and enhances matching, greatly improves reliability, and reduces component damage caused by poor contact between connectors. .

The use of CAN bus can be said to be an example of system integration. The CAN bus used in the car was first applied to the truck through the introduction of King Steyr, and was fully utilized on HOWO trucks. Because the CAN bus can realize instant communication between various electrical appliances (electronic control units) in the vehicle, especially the communication between the "heart" engine and the on-board electronic system, the monitoring of the running status of the vehicle, the intelligent low-temperature start-up control, and the digitization of the combination meter Information display and so on has a strong advantage. It transforms an electromechanical product into a "smart product" that makes a qualitative leap in truck performance.

Focus on safety design

In recent years, the safety of trucks has also gradually increased. Basically, safety is achieved through the reinforcement design of the car body, passive protection devices, and good visibility.

In the cab, China's trucks now use all-steel or monolithic steel structures, and all of them are fully automated robotic production lines for welding, which is more reliable than previous cabs. In addition, some domestic heavy trucks are equipped with front anti-drill protection frames. In the event of a frontal collision, they can protect the safety of vehicles and pedestrians in front.

In recent years, the lateral stabilizers generally found in truck cabs abroad have gradually begun to be applied, which can effectively solve the lateral stability of the vehicle during driving and further ensure the safety of driving. At the same time, some domestic trucks have also begun to install ABS systems. Perhaps in the near future, EBL (electronic brake force distribution system), TPMS (tire pressure detection system) and other technologies will be gradually applied to domestic trucks to escort the safety of users.
