[Wuhan News] (Internship reporter Zhu Wei) The 6th Wuhan International Automobile Industry Exhibition concluded yesterday, marking another successful event in the city's growing automotive calendar. According to the organizing committee, this year’s exhibition covered a total area of 35,000 square meters, featuring over 2,300 standard booths. More than 90 types of finished vehicles, 360 exhibition cars, and nearly 300 auto parts and components were on display. The number of visitors reached nearly 300,000, highlighting the increasing popularity of the event.
The scale and number of exhibitors have significantly grown, showcasing the maturity of the Wuhan International Auto Show. High-end models, including luxury cars priced around one million yuan, were prominently featured. Citroën made its debut with the C4 and C6, with the C6 selling for over 600,000 yuan. Volkswagen displayed the Phaeton at a price of one million yuan, while Lincoln presented its most expensive model, the Lincoln, priced at 1.68 million yuan.
This year’s exhibition also brought some new highlights. Unlike previous years, the event saw major domestic automakers such as Dongfeng Group gathering together, with top brands like Dongfeng Citroën, Dongfeng Honda, and Dongfeng Nissan showcasing their latest models. Other leading domestic brands, including FAW Toyota, Guangzhou Toyota, Changan Ford, and Shanghai Volkswagen, also participated. Imported luxury brands like Volvo, Renault, and Opel added an international touch, with models such as the Opel Astra GTC, Saab 9-3, and Jeep Commander drawing significant attention from visitors.
Despite these positive developments, there was some disappointment among attendees, as several highly anticipated models, such as the Dongfeng Peugeot New 307 and Changan Ford New Mondeo, did not make an appearance at the exhibition.
Zhongpeng Chi, a senior reporter from China Automotive News, noted that although the Wuhan International Auto Show still has room for growth compared to the Beijing and Shanghai Auto Shows, the results this year indicate a clear move toward mainstream recognition. “This is largely due to Hubei’s growing automotive industry, the rising purchasing power of local consumers, and the expanding economic influence of the province,†he said.
Overall, the 6th Wuhan International Auto Show demonstrated the city’s increasing role in the national and even international automotive landscape, offering a glimpse into the future of car innovation and consumer trends.
