The 3rd Shanghai International Starch and Starch Derivatives Exhibition 2008, endorsed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, was organized by the China Starch Industry Association and the Shanghai Science and Technology Development and Exchange Center, with Shanghai Zhongye Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. as the host. The event took place from March 31st to April 2nd, 2008, at the Shanghai Mart (99 Xingyi Road, Shanghai). Over the past three years, the Shanghai International Starch Exhibition has grown into one of the most professional and influential events in Asia, attracting active participation and strong support from numerous leading companies in the industry.
By the end of December 2007, over 200 companies from more than 10 countries and regions had registered for the exhibition. The number of exhibitors and the exhibition area exceeded previous sessions. Notable participants included COFCO Bio-Energy, U.S. Corn Products International Co., Ltd., Shandong Jineng Jinmao, Zhucheng Xingmao, Shandong King of East and West, Zhucheng Runsheng, Novozymes, GEA, Dutch Gundam, Mitsubishi Corporation, Korea Hanter Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Huaou, Inner Mongolia Nailun, Yunnan Runkai, Heilongjiang Great Northern Wilderness, Haotian Potato Industry, Shandong Shifangyuantong, and many other well-known enterprises.
The exhibition featured a wide range of products, including various raw starches, modified starches, starch sugars, sugar alcohols, enzyme preparations, starch processing equipment, and energy-saving and environmental protection technologies. The exhibition covered all aspects of the starch industry, from upstream to downstream sectors.
To promote technical exchanges and collaboration between research institutions, universities, and starch companies, a special service area was set up during the event to showcase new technologies and achievements in the starch industry. This provided a platform for the display and exchange of innovative projects. Additionally, to strengthen connections between upstream and downstream companies, exhibitors and professional visitors could access comprehensive information on cooperation opportunities, maximizing business potential within the industry.
During the same period, the "2008 Shanghai International Biological Fermentation and Alcohol Technology Exhibition" was also held, offering further networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
In line with the exhibition’s goal of promoting industry development, more than 10 high-level seminars, theme reports, and other activities were organized, featuring renowned experts and industry leaders. On-site expert consultations were also available to attendees.
