Cathelco has received the company's largest single order to provide a seawater pipeline antifouling system to protect 14 ferries.
It is reported that the ferry is operated by Deniz Otobusleri (IDO) of Istanbul, Turkey. Eight of the eight car/passenger ferries can transport 112 vehicles, and the remaining six can transport 66 cars each.
Due to the increase of barnacles and mussels, the pipeline is easy to be contaminated by microorganisms during operation, and it is easy to cause blockage after a long time, which affects the efficiency of the engine cooling system and thus increases fuel consumption.
The Cathelco anode will be equipped with a simple triple nylon filter for each vessel. In operation, the control panel will charge the copper anode, generating ions that make it difficult for microorganisms to adhere. The system is fully automated and requires no distraction from the crew.
