Balanced low shear control valve available

The three mining centers at the Gudong Plant of Shengli Oilfield have recently made a significant breakthrough by successfully developing balanced low shear cut-off regulating valves. This innovation enables the simultaneous injection of polycondensation pumps into multiple wells, greatly improving operational efficiency and reducing downtime. Polymer solutions are highly sensitive to mechanical shearing, which can cause substantial degradation and reduce their effectiveness. As a result, traditional ball valves must be either fully open or fully closed during polymer injection to prevent excessive shear. This limitation typically restricts the injection pump to servicing only one well at a time, significantly limiting productivity. To address this challenge, the Gudong team introduced a conical valve design combined with a surfacing alloy material at the sealing interface between the valve core and seat. This advanced material provides excellent resistance to erosion, ensuring long-term sealing performance even under harsh conditions. Additionally, the valve's drive system incorporates step-down technology, allowing for precise and flexible adjustment of the flow rate. Testing results have demonstrated that the new regulating valve offers high accuracy in adjusting the mother liquor, ease of on-site operation, and an impressive viscosity retention rate. When the valve is fully open, at 2/3, 1/2, and 1/4 openings, the viscosity retention rate remains consistently above 98%, confirming its effectiveness in preserving the integrity of the polymer solution. This technological advancement has now been submitted for a national patent, marking a major step forward in polymer injection technology. The development not only enhances the efficiency of oil recovery operations but also sets a new standard for precision and reliability in the industry.
