From May 25th to 26th, the second European, American and Asian Chemical Investors Forum took place at the Shanghai Meilan Lake International Conference Center. Over 100 leading chemical investors from around the world gathered to discuss key investment trends, strategic cooperation opportunities, and emerging market strategies for multinational companies in China. Topics included regional headquarters investment, cross-border capital flows, manufacturing relocation, and the potential of Asian enterprises in global markets. The event also explored high-risk investment approaches and blue ocean strategies for emerging economies.
As international industrial shifts continue to accelerate and regional clusters become more prominent, the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Bohai Economic Rim, and the old industrial base in Northeast China have emerged as key areas for foreign chemical investments. Wang Ying, Deputy Mayor of Shenyang and commander of the Shenyang Chemical Industry Park, highlighted that China's economic development has gone through four distinct phases: the first centered on the Pearl River Delta, the second on the Yangtze River Delta, the third around Beijing, Tianjin, and Shandong, and the fourth now focused on the Northeast with Shenyang as its core. He noted that this fourth phase is still in its early stages.
Zhang Peixi, Chairman of Shanghai Huayi Group, shared that the company has established dozens of joint ventures with global chemical giants such as DuPont, BASF, Bayer, Cabot, and Mitsui Chemicals. Linde Deen, Chairman of Degussa (China) Investment Co., Ltd., announced the launch of the “Miracle Plan Project in China,†aiming to achieve sales of 900 million euros in the country by 2008.
The forum was organized jointly by the China-Europe Shanghai Chemical Industry Council, Shanghai Huayi (Group) Company, Degussa (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and the U.S. Chemical Investment Center. It provided a valuable platform for industry leaders to exchange insights and explore future collaboration opportunities in the rapidly evolving chemical sector.
