Ishikawajima, Japan, launched a 3,000-ton boom large crane ship

Xinhua News Agency, Tokyo, September 18 (Reporter Chen Rui) – Japan’s Ishikawajima Heavy Industries (IHI) has recently completed the construction of a 3,000-ton capacity mobile crane ship for Shentian Construction, a major Japanese engineering firm. This new vessel marks a significant advancement in offshore construction technology and is expected to play a key role in future marine infrastructure projects. The crane ship features a redesigned steel beam structure that replaces the traditional cabinet-style boom system, resulting in a 60% reduction in overall weight. This innovative design not only enhances efficiency but also improves stability during heavy lifting operations. The vessel measures 105 meters in length and 46 meters in width, making it one of the largest non-self-propelled crane ships in IHI's fleet. Unlike self-propelled vessels, this ship is designed to be towed to different locations, making it ideal for large-scale marine civil engineering projects such as the construction of offshore platforms, breakwaters, and harbor facilities. With its advanced lifting capabilities, the ship can handle heavy components typically used in deep-sea and coastal construction. This year, IHI is set to deliver a total of 45 crane ships, with 30 units destined for the domestic market and 15 for international clients. This reflects the company’s strong position in the global marine construction industry and its commitment to innovation and quality. The delivery of this new crane ship underscores IHI’s growing influence in the sector and its ability to meet the evolving demands of modern infrastructure development.
